We create community catharsis through theatrical storytelling and conversation.

Our Mission…

The Hall Theater aims to connect people through diverse forms of storytelling, ritual, and performance art. Our productions serve as catalysts for conversations around divisive topics. We are committed to providing opportunities for people from all backgrounds to utilize theatrical expression as a tool toward inclusivity, healthy dialogue, and transformation.

Our Process…

Every season our team stewards three theatrical presentations (one principle topic, a variation around said topic, and an individual breakout performance) with subsequent town hall conversations. Stories and players are sourced from an open online submission period. Rehearsal process, facilitated by a topic-specific curator, pairs storytellers and players to develop a theatrical interpretation of true experiences.

All of our live in-person and remote gatherings begin with a signature opening embodiment exercise guided by the evening’s curator. This ritual aims to foster environmental awareness and emphasize the importance of active listening between all participants (audience, players, crew, curator). We conclude every presentation with a specially designed Town Hall style discussion, giving audience members an opportunity to step into the light, thus setting the (proverbial and literal) stage for communal catharsis.
