MyWOMB

In American healthcare, advocating for oneself is a high-stakes move.

my Womb is a one woman show that follows the journey of a mother preparing for birth + death…

Journey with heroine “O” as she navigates through pitfalls of the medical sector’s systemized and horrifically habitual dismissal of reproductive pain, in order to save her own life.

my Womb is about the disconnection between patients and medical staff in the American healthcare sector, it’s about a woman arranging her death while preparing to give birth - with a burlesque bit and some puppets! -J Rich, Director

*Each 35-minute presentation is followed by a 10-minute Town Hall style conversation.

herWOMB

herWOMB features three distinct stories about birth and unique family creation told from varied perspectives around the birthing individual’s experience. Our storytellers cover adoption, IVF, and gender identity.

This presentation upholds The Hall Theater model, adapted to 2020-2021’s COVID 19 lockdown. Stories are told through video art, and our signature town hall will take place on IG Live @thehalltheater on June 13 at 11:30 am, with a replay available on our herWOMB playlist.

All video art presentations, going live on June 19, will also be up on our site gallery.

WOMB

Join us for an evening of interactive storytelling and performance art centered around the birthing experience.

The Hall Theater’s debut performance of WOMB offers a compelling and collective journey into motherhood...

Four players will present stories about the birthing process. Stories are compiled and synthesized from a submission process which gathered content from a wide array of women from different cultures and backgrounds.

We begin the evening with embodiment exercise guided by the Master of Ceremonies. The purpose of this opening ritual is to foster awareness + active listening between all participants… audience, players, crew, and curator. WOMB concludes with a Town Hall style discussion, giving audience members an opportunity to take the stage and create space for communal catharsis.
